The Pre-Eclipse Season Full Moon in Aquarius Is Asking Us to Look Deeply at Systems of Past Oppression and How They Affect Our Present

The month of July has been a challenging one astrologically and I don’t need to tell you that. Astrology simply gives us an archetypal lens to understand the beauty and f*ckery of any given moment. I will say that the latter is more the current vibe.
Today, July 29th 2026, the moon is full in the sign of Aquarius which usually isn’t an issue except that it brings into the spotlight the needs of the collective vs the needs of all of us individually within a collective. If anything, it helps us realize how our emotional state is deeply connected to that of the human collective as a whole. What is complicating the situation is that Pluto is conjunct this full moon and squaring Chiron and the Sun is conjunct Jupiter in Leo. What that means is that whatever we and the human collective is going through emotionally as a whole is being amplified. It also means that our emotions may be highly connected to our fight or flight response. We may also have to deal with some long standing wounds from our early life experiences. Jupiter in Leo is also opposing this full moon which means that we can expect an amplification of whatever comes up for us or for our collective human experience. These signatures also signify leadership being triggered which is not very reassuring based on how people in current national and international leadership have been responding to being triggered as of late.
This is how some of this is showing up for us. On July 22nd, last week, another National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was passed. This determines what the main categories for US defense funding will be. The last time this act was passed was in 1961. What happened this time is that Israel has successfully lobbied our Congress to include funding of the Israeli military (IDF) as a category that we officially fund every year now through our tax dollars. Now why is this important? It is because previously, any outside government had to ask us for help when helping them wage war. Specifically, Israel had to try and present a case as to why this was important. Now Israel will be the only (imaginary) state who’s military will be directly paid for by us, no questions asked. This sets a president that genocide gets you what you want as a country. Netanyahu lobbied to push this through.
The Los Angeles Sherif’s department has decided not to renew a contract with Flock, the Palantir surveillance technology, in response to community pressure. This was probably aided by LA having stood up against ICE violence over the Summer. We can thank Venus in Capricorn squaring Mars in Gemini for providing some healthy tensions between the liberatory aims of historically marginalized communities and oppressive, militaristic systems.
Now before you get all gleeful, on July 20th, The FBI said that they will no longer investigate violence by ICE agents. Not that they were doing this anyway, but it is wild how emboldened they are to just say this stuff out loud now.
To add insult to injury, on the 21st, the House passed the Save Act 😩 which will ensure that many women who changed their names after marriage will no longer be eligible to vote. These three occurrences taken together show us just how binary thinking does not work when using astrology as a tool. What is “good” to one group could be “bad” to another. We are all in this human experiment together and the energies of the planets are not concerned with what we think of as good or bad as a group or a species. It’s our work as incarnated individuals to make choices that evolve us into living in ways that amplify the greatest benefit for the largest amount of living beings. It is also important to realize that if this human experiment doesn’t wind up working out and we destroy ourselves, the planet will start over and be just fine. Puts things into perspective doesn’t it?

I recently returned from the some underwater filming at a magical river a few hours from my home where Galdalf is regularly spotted tanning his taint. We were filming a music video for my song Little Big Love from my album Sabina Olamina 1. A bear decided to kick it with us on the second night of our camping stay which was funny because it was also the night that the most people were there. He wandered into our camp site and after I heard a crash I saw his big hulking shadow in the pitch blackness. He looked scared too. He had that look you get when you were caught trying to be slick. Anywho, I look like a Medusa mermaid in the footage and I’m loving it. Stay tuned.
