Release and reflections on revolution
Today we have a full moon in Gemini but more importantly, on this day in 1969 Fred Hampton was killed by this country just 3 years after the inception of his Black Panther Party.
This year, 2025, we also lost another revolutionary icon last month named Assata Shakur who escaped to Cuba where the government there swore to protect her and other Panthers in exile. She was able to die peacfully.
Fun fact, Beyonce and Jay Z spent their 5th anniversary in Cuba under the guise of supporting an educational program in order to get information for the Obama administration on Assata’s whereabouts. Obama was putting pressure on Cuba to hand her over, which they did not. To this day she is still considered a terrorist by our government instead of being celebrated as the revolutionary socialist that she was.
It’s important for us to take a minute to reflect on the wielding of the word terrorist as a weapon by those who wish to control our lives by controlling the narrative. I want you all to stop and take a minute to think about all the groups who have been called “terrorist”. Do a little research. How many of them were terrorists, and how many were revolutionaries? Why have we still not considered many white nationalist groups as domestic terrorists?
Now before you start thinking I’ve lost the plot on the astrology watch me do “the weave” and bring it right on back ;)
This full moon is in the sign of Gemini which is ruled by Mercury. This means that we are in a time which we are primed to analyze our feelings. The moon isn’t really into this, as it would much rather we feel into our emotions with our bodies and not try and contextualize.
A great way to dive into this full moon energy is to read some old revolutionary speeches and see how they resonate in your body. I recently finished Fred Hampton’s speech “It’s a Class Struggle God Damnit!” and had to keep reminding myself that he was a 21yrs old when he gave this speech and I wish he had more time on this planet to develop his frontal lobe a bit further just because even the most brilliant 21yr old men often have regrets once they get past 25. I find myself hoping that the version of him who was allowed to live a bit longer wouldn’t throw around gender slurs like “f_g_ot” to articulate a point that was actually quite progressive, but that’s 21yr old men for you.
He was prolific and unapolagetically on point. What he said in this speech still rings true and needs to be heeded and re-invigorated today. It is also in the vernacular of a 21yr old young man which makes it hard to read without bristling at times, but I am here for it. My support always goes to people who aren’t willing to compromise on the delivery of their message to soothe the oppressors. Now do I agree with everything he said? No. Do I agree with most of it and understand fundamentally the larger vision? Absolutely.
If you’re open to spending some time analyzing the state of the world and how it’s affecting you emotionally today, I would encourage you to ruminate on the phrase “No one is free until we are all free”. If you dilute the struggle of any oppressed people anywhere down to a single kernel it will always come up as a class struggle and that is something we can all get behind.
No matter where you are in the world, the 1%, the technofascists, the billionaires, the capitalists are oppressing someone. Most of the time that someone is you, even if you don’t know it yet. It will become more and more clear if we let what is happening continue. Capitalism requires the creation of fake markets upheld by the ruling class. The richest 1% are now responsible for 50% of purchasing power. Why do you think they don’t care about us as consumers anymore? They don’t need us, and unless you are making over a billion dollars “us” means “you” and it’s only a matter of time before you figure that out…we’ll be waiting. Just because it doesn’t affect your bottom line currently don’t mean it won’t, and soon.

Find your struggle and tap in. It doesn’t have to be the same as mine, but trust and believe we will be meeting up soon enough.
Another thing to keep in mind currently as we are now well into Pluto’s 20yr cycle in the sign of Aquarius and Neptune is in Saturn for a bit longer, is that we are in a peak confusion phase when it comes to information we can trust. AI is getting so convincing that many people can no longer tell the difference between AI and real videos. Youth in schools are exceedingly using AI to produce school work. The problem is that the AI is still prone to delusions and even if folks know much of it is not real, young folks are incorporating false information into their world views at the same time that their critical reasoning skills are deteriorating. By the time they figure this out, they have already made a definitive synapse in their brains that comprehend the fake information as true. It is already known that we should not trust much of our own memory. What happens when that memory is completely hijacked? I guess we’ll find out.
At the same time all of this is happening, we have Joe Rogan saying that AI is the Virgin Marry to bring Jesus back. That self proclaimed atheist planting that seed at this time when the Evangelical Christian nationalist agenda is merging with our current fascist dictatorship and peak delulu is on 5,000 is extremely dangerous! These Testosterone pumped up gym rats are linking with the formerly scrawny tech bros to usher in technofascism. The saving grace is that I don’t think many people are taking the bait. You wouldn’t know if you consumed solely entertainment political light podcasts and mainstream media however, but when you start making real connections with living humans you’ll find out the truth. That no one cares about this billionaire broligarch wet dream because the rest of us are all trying to stay out of detention centers aka prisons, and or make enough money to eat. Even places that are considered red like the Ozarks and Arizona are uniting against the current regime with neighborhood patrols and collective redistribution aka mutual aid programs. People are waking up to the fact that the divide is not Red or Blue, Republican or Democrat, Right or Left; the divide is billionaires and trillionaires against the rest of us. So fear not comrade we are in the long fight but we are in it together.
Release the BS you don’t need on this Gemini full moon, try not to spiral, and take some solitary time to figure out how to communicate your own version of a liberatory strategy when the time is right. We got us!
