Soak it up because the struggle continues the very next day
Now I told ya’ll we needed to put in some serious work in terms of self reflection that came with our last lunation a couple weeks back, namely the New Moon in Libra. That was because we had a bunch of planets both personal planets and outer generational planets, that move a bit slower, have all been retrograde. Some still are. However last week on the 15th the diva of a planet, Pluto, decided to station direct. It just so happens that I have a simultaneously horrific and beautiful real life story about how this can show up in you life or the lives of others.
An example of the Destructive Yet Generative Capacity of Pluto in Aquarius Through Community Organizing Against ICE
So right after the planet of transformation and destruction stationed direct on the 16th of October we had some of the first instances of Trump’s immigration enforcement raid in CA take shape. My friend reminded me that Pluto is like the Tower card in Tarot so all hands needed to be on deck. You can’t prepare for Pluto or Tower energies but the work is in in debriefing what strategies were successful and fortifying systems for future protections.

Now Pluto has been in the astrological sign of Aquarius for a couple years now and has about 17.5 more to go in that sign. Aquarius is a sign that focus’s us on the individual’s contribution to a community. How is your individuality contributing to the health and betterment of your community? The story I am going to tell you that illustrates this is a prime example of how something catastrophic can lead to something that helps a community to fortify itself.
The day after Pluto stationed direct, Eduardo Antonio Ruiz Garcia had 8 ribs broken by an ICE agent who weighed 280 pounds and sat on Garcia’s chest. He was later brought to the hospital I work at for treatment. What ensued after was a beautiful display of solidarity for this patient and his family as well as a test of the grass roots community organizing that has been done inside and outside our Bay Area California institutions wether that organizing is aided by any of these institutions administrators or not.
Outside, activists, gathered to provide a 24hr presence around the hospital. There was two way communication between organizers and activists and the folks organizing inside, and through this work the patient was able to get admitted into the hospital after the ER and stay for several days in order to receive treatment for his injuries even though the agents accompanying him wanted him to have no more than two days, which would be inadequate for his treatment.
In the end, Garcia was snuck out of the hospital and into ICE custody. The agents even provided a decoy for their activities so that folks on the outside would not see this happen. However, in that time, legal representation and contact with his family was also able to be secured.
The outcome was not perfect and the nightmare for this family will still continue, but there are people continuing to follow his case and we were able to get him: adequate treatment, legal counsel, and family contact. We were also able to make this a political issue to hold our elected officials accountable as well as let ICE know they are not going to have an easy time here. All of this would not have happened without the incredible flash organizing inside and outside the hospital, and that often happened amongst strangers.
This sent a powerful message to the Federal administration that has issued an ICE surge to “Keep California Safe” when no one asked for this, that Oakland will not stand by while they try and abduct even one of ours. There was also another person abducted that same day in San Francisco, who was able to be released from custody before leaving the hospital, so San Francisco is apparently also not F-ing around.
Let me be very clear. The goal with these attacks is as follows
Spread fear in our immigrants and marginalized communities
Use safety from “illegal criminal aliens” (which is such a fake ass bullshit term) as a pretext to secure votor rolls to disenfranchaise voters like they’ve done in Georgia with Tulsie Gabbard’s raid before leaving the Trump administration, amongst other examples.
Attempt to test the integrity of our hospitals systems to find out wether they can be used as detention sites in the future.

Ok so this full moon today October 25th is in a Venutian sign
…and Venus itself will be moving into Libra which is another sign it rules on the same day. The only hiccup is that it will be retrograde. I don’t know about you, but I already inappropriately texted my ex. I mean the planetary energies of the moment demanded it, so meh what ya guna do? Suffice it to say it did not go as planned. I would advise against these kinds of actions but hey, do you. The other thing is that whatever you do in a fun and flirty way may just pass quickly and make you smile, even if it feels weird at the time.
So I recently stayed at the home of a dear Taurus friend that we affectionately call “Le Monestair Gay Tauri” and it was the best possible place to have to deal with some of the incident I previously described. You know you’re in the right place when you open a cabinet to supply of feminine hygiene products, addiction reversals, and first aid kits even though you are in the home of a gay man. In fact he even asked for my expertise at the grocery store to pick out the right tampons and pads when they needed to be replenished. He said he decided to stock them when a female friend of his said she couldn’t come over because she was bleeding too heavily and didn’t have anything. Cis-het single male friends, take notes please. Trust me your game will be upped by 500%.
During my stay I was able to make sure people’s needs were met on the ground by helping to find community members to bring food, provide press releases, and coordinate legal support as my dear Venutian friend (Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus) played me jazz, got me vegan pizza, and calmed my nerves with books and incense so that as soon as I got back I could jump right into what I was doing on the ground. This was a first for me and it is a reminder to all of us that we can engage in struggle even as we we are taking care of ourselves.
I was reminded of a Palestinian who told me:
we also need you to know that we are having tea, we are laughing, we are loving, that is where our power comes from. They (Israel and the US) could have just bombed us and we will put out a stool, a tattered rag as a table cloth and some hot water for tea so that we can enjoy one more moment.
It reminds me of family friends in Serbia who were being bombed in the 90’s but instead of rushing to get across the bridge that was about to be destroyed, grandma said:
This is my favorite soap opera, let’s wait til the commercial, we have a war every ten years, meh.
This Taurus full moon is asking us to release the idea that the powers bent on our eternal subjugation have power over us. We determine when, where and how we are to experience joy!
So take some time today to enjoy cozy time at home or in a safe warm place if you have that at your disposal. Taurus wants us to be taking rose petal baths and anointing our skin with honey. Or maybe just dressing up to go out to to a show and instead taking a nap after tiring yourself out dancing in front of the mirror because of how scrumptious you looked. Or getting a massage by someone who does home visits. You could also do an hour long meditation and fall asleep. Eat your favorite foods or binge watch something. Sometimes all you can do is put on lotion, and that is a win for self care. The flavor is different for everyone but they all require a lot of warm fuzzy feelings and doing things that nourish you.
The day after we languish in the Venutian full moon, we get a reality check with the Sun in Scorpio squaring Pluto in Aquarius. Get ready for a change of plans or a change of heart in your life around issues in your community that bump up against your personal identity. Try to get as much out of the full moon in Taurus on the day before in terms of R & R and cozy things, so that you can weather the Sun square Pluto on the 26th. This transit may have you feeling twinges of jealousy and either feel powerful in a sneaky manipulative way, or powerless but not able to quite pin down what or who is making you feel this way.
The last antidote Ill give is another personal one that may resonate for some of you. For those of you with your north node and or rising sign in Leo particularly. Mars and Jupiter are in prominent places in your charts currently. Everyone is getting some information on how leadership shows up for them in the world but for you particularly this may be very intense.
If your sun is in a place in the chart that deals with difficult things, your leadership potential may be in areas that are uncomfortable or maybe even slightly or very dangerous. I was asked to speak about what happened at our hospital and when I was doing so, I was being watched from above by the same law enforcement that was providing material support to ICE agents. I was scared however my Sun, which rules the sign of Leo is in a place that deals with very difficult things. I am often called into leadership roles to shine a light in the darkness. My overarching goal is to teach others to do the same, and I strongly believe this is the only way we will survive all this.
